How to Enter
A team of ‘Fashion on the Field’ spotters will wander through the crowd on race day selecting semi-finalists. As the crowd on Picnic Race day is large, we invite suitably dressed candidates to present themselves at the semi-final judging. This will be held at the band stage area in the back marquee after the running of the third race.
Judging Guidelines:
Best Hat or Fascinator
- Style and originality
- Hat or fascinator that catches the eye with a great sense of style, flamboyance or uniqueness.
Best Dressed Classical Lady
- Style and originality
- Appropriateness of attire for a day at the races and the season
- Attention to detail of hat, bag and shoes
- Hats or fascinators are essential
- Outfit that is timeless or elegant
Best Dressed Contemporary Lady
- Style and originality
- Appropriateness of attire for a day at the races and the season
- Attention to detail of hat, bag and shoes
- Even though the fashion in this category can be more daring it must still represent ladies daywear
- Hats or fascinators are essential
- Outfit that displays current fashion trends
Best Dressed Couple
- Style and originality
- Appropriateness of attire for a day at the races and the season
- Attention to detail of accessories
- Co-ordinated outfits
- Hats or fascinators are essential
Best Dressed Gentleman

Judges
A panel of 3 suitably qualified judges are selected to judge the Fashions on the Field.
Judges selected are independent from the Dalby Amateur Picnic Race Club and do not reside in Dalby.
The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
